The name Vic Vendetta came from the film V for Vendetta, representing rebellion and standing against corruption—values instilled in him from childhood.

Vik Vendetta, born into a revolutionary hip-hop household with a Dominican mother and Puerto Rican father, grew up fully immersed in the culture—through B-boying, mixtapes, and the music of Immortal Technique. His name, inspired by V for Vendetta, represents rebellion and resistance against corruption, values instilled early by his father, DJ GI Joe. Patience and persistence define Vik’s journey, from releasing his first song In the Clouds in high school to producing, engineering, and recording his own music. Drawing influence from underground staples like Immortal Technique, Chino XL, and KRS-One, he delivers a raw, intellectual style rooted in principle. His two interlocked V’s logo symbolizes an uncompromised personal identity.

Approaching hip-hop as a lifestyle rather than a competition, Vik creates from a place of love and authenticity. His experiences span the streets and the stage—from performing at high-profile fashion events to opening for Barack Obama as a child dancer, and later sharing stages with Immortal Technique. Independent and focused, Vik Vendetta continues to balance hustle, artistry, and integrity, making music that reflects his journey, values, and deep dedication to the culture.

HipHopMunchies: For people just discovering you, who is Vik Vendetta?
Vik Vendetta: I’m from Boston, Mass. Grew up on the streets, around hustle, music, and culture. Life was fast, lessons were hard, and I learned early how to survive and create opportunities for myself. That’s the foundation for everything I do today.

HipHopMunchies: What shaped you the most growing up—family, community, music, or business?
Vik Vendetta: Community and the streets taught me resilience. Family taught me discipline. Music and culture gave me expression. That mix pushed me to grind smarter, move with purpose, and always keep one eye on the bigger picture.

HipHopMunchies: Did you always see yourself building your own empire?
Vik Vendetta: Not at first. I was chasing jobs, flipping small hustles, figuring out the rules. But I realized early—you work for someone else, your ceiling’s theirs. That’s when I started betting on myself, building something that can’t be taken away.

HipHopMunchies: What gave you the courage to step out and build your own brand?
Vik Vendetta: Watching people like Jay-Z, local hustlers, even random entrepreneurs online. Seeing them take risks and win made me realize—it’s do or die. I figured if they can go all in, I can too, and build on my own terms.
