It all started with sending DMs, Networking , and showing up before anyone cared. On the latest Hip Hop Munchies episode, Vas — Grammy-nominated and one of New England’s top promoters — opens up about his journey from immigrating to the U.S. to running packed nights in Boston and Providence.
Working with artists like Bobby Shmurda, Fivio Foreign, and G Herbo, Vas emphasizes that consistency, humility, and relationships—not clout—are real currency. “I was DM’ing everybody,” he says. Early losses and stress shaped him, proving that reputation matters more than short-term profit. From last-minute venue changes to crowd expectations, Vas’s story shows the unseen grind behind nightlife. Now Grammy-nominated and still hungry, he’s eyeing his next chapter: owning a nightclub to create a lasting platform for culture.
This interview is about patience, persistence, and building something real when nobody’s watching.

HipHopMunchies: What was the first event that really made you believe that you could do this full time?
Vasjan: Back home in Albania, I was just selling tickets for clubs and helping teachers with events. When I came to the U.S., I started promoting for other promoters, selling tickets, finding opening acts for artists like Young MA. That’s when I realized, “I can do this myself.” My first own event was in 2020—it worked, and that’s when I knew I could make it full time.
HipHopMunchies: You moved to Boston in 2018. How did you start building your actual network from scratch? What were the first steps?
Vasjan: Instagram was everything. I was DMing everyone, searching hashtags for events, talent shows, local artists. I went to every event I could, networked, followed up with people, asked artists for their music. Every connection mattered. Even if English was rough, I kept showing up, learning, and building relationships.
HipHopMunchies: How tough was it for you to break into the scene, especially Boston or Providence? Was there ever a time a show flopped and you lost money early on?
Vasjan: At first, language and confidence were challenges. I was nervous approaching people. But when I did my own events in 2020, the first one went well. There were ups and downs—some events I broke even, some I lost a little—but I never had a flop that made me quit. Early success gave me momentum, and I just kept grinding.
